Olangchung Gola is a Tibetan-rooted village in far-eastern Nepal, sitting at 3,200 m on an ancient salt-trade route between Tibet and Sikkim. The trek climbs from the lower Tamur Valley through Sherpa and Walung villages to the upper village and on toward the Lumba Sumba pass (5,160 m).
Why this trek
- Restricted-area permit — sees almost no foreign trekkers.
- Walung culture — distinct from the Khumbu and Solukhumbu Sherpas, with their own language and customs.
- 17 days, max altitude 5,160 m at Lumba Sumba.
- Connects to the Makalu region via the Lumba Sumba pass for trekkers wanting a multi-region traverse.
Demanding, remote, culturally rich. We run it with a camping crew on a custom-quote basis — group size and dates dictate logistics.
